Welcome to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, located in Plaquemine, Louisiana - often referred to as the “Cathedral on the Bayou.” The Church was established in 1850 and is now home to 1800 families in the Plaquemine area. See our church bulletin for the latest information.

100 Years Capital Campaign - Phase 2
The Church will be closed from June 15 - August 9 for construction. Weekday Mass is being held in the Parish Hall. Weekend Mass is held at St. Clement of Rome Chapel. The Adoration Chapel remains open.
- June 15 - June 21: Remove, reinforce and relocate pews to side aisles (Mid-South Church)
- June 22 - July 10: Asbestos abatement (Insultech)
- June 29 - July 17: Door work (Flateau & Himmel's)
- July 13 - July 24: Remove pine flooring and anchor subfloor (Carpentry Plus More)
- July 13 - August 7: Refurbish pews (Mid-South Church)
- July 20 - July 31: Install new flooring (Carpentry Plus More)
- July 27 - August 7: Reinstall Pews (Mid-South Church)
- July 27 - August 9: Interior Cleaning (Cinderella)
- August 10: Church Re-opens / Phase 2 Complete
